2018 was a year featuring a wide variety of musical projects by Amie and Sangeet Millennium. South Asian Music for the World was a huge success, Amie made her second consecutive trip to Pakistan, was selected for the Texas Commission of the Arts Touring Roster, and launched the Sangeet Millennium Academy for teaching Hindustani music in Dallas, TX. Let’s look back at some of the highlights from the year.

Summer Tour In Pakistan

Amie was part of a Texas-based team that was awarded a grant by the American Institute of Pakistan Studies. Led by Dr. Michael Hirsch, Dean of Arts and Sciences at Huston-Tillitson University (in Austin) the team conducted training workshops on social science, education, and ethnomusicology research methods for diverse junior faculty selected by Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission. During her stay, Amie performed concerts and gave lectures at various schools and universities throughout the country, including the National Academy of Performing Arts.

The Launch of South Asian Music for the World!

This year we were proud to announce the beginning of a new project entitled, South Asian Music for the World. Supported in part by the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, we brought together renowned artists, providing Dallas audiences unique access to instruments and music not easily accessible in Western countries.

Declare World Peace 2018

For the third year in a row, Sangeet Millennium organized the Declare World Peace music festival. The one day program is a celebration of world music, dance, and poetry. This year saw performances by Impending Bloom Floating Ensemble, The Hathor Experience, Jamal Mohamed World Ensemble, Austin Dance India, Jacco Velarde & Vision Andina, and Sangeet Millennium Ensemble! his concert was sponsored by Unity on Greenville and received support from the Texas Commission on the Arts in addition to that from the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs.

2018 Selection for TCA Touring Roster

Dr. Amie Maciszewski has been selected again in 2018 for the Texas Commission of the Arts Touring Roster! As a recognized artist by the Texas Commission of the Arts, up to 50% finding support is available to book me and my ensemble for non-profit artistic and arts education events and residencies around Texas.
